Communications & Marketing Manager

Brief Overview

We’re working with a highly regarded membership organisation to assist them in the recruitment of a Communications & Marketing Manager.

This is an incredibly broad role and sits within a creative & eclectic working culture, so we’re looking for someone commercially astute, dynamic, who is ideally used to guiding a small team.

The role:

You’ll develop effective communications, marketing, and insight strategies in order to inform and support the wider organisation and delivery of marketing initiatives. The role involves extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, indeed success in this role will come from having fabulous working relationships with them, at all levels.

Campaigns could be digital or print, PR or social media and will involve events, as well as insight activity, design, media sales and sponsorship, and you’ll also be responsible for the website and CRM system with a view to increasing engagement, participation, and satisfaction.  You will regularly report to the Board, providing data and information for the analysis and evaluation of communications and digital activity, events, promotions and marketing initiatives and you’ll develop strategies and processes to plan and project manager PR and media activity and will evaluate all media activity post campaign.

You’ll be liaising with and building relationships with key journalists, media agencies and stakeholders to provide accurate copy and press releases promoting the organisation, its members, and messages.  You’ll also oversee the development of a range of communications materials, briefing a team of internal designers, and will manage several high-profile events. You’ll manage a team of 4 staff and will be responsible for managing them on a day-to-day basis, but also mentoring them to ensure they reach their full potential.

What we’re looking for:

A strong commercial background across Communications and Marketing & you’ll likely be a Graduate of Marketing, Communications or Journalism or similar and may well have undertaken continued professional development.

Previous sector experience isn’t really a major factor in this role, it’s more important that you can demonstrate experience of developing marcomms strategies including across both digital and print, strong website and CRM management, and really solid experience within PR and communications.

You must have previous experience of people management and be well-versed in managing stakeholders.  This environment is quite unique in its makeup, so you should be a really strong communicator, capable of liaising with everyone from the CEO down to temporary student staff.  Additionally, you should be able to show previous experience of managing budgets.

What’s on Offer?

The starting salary for the role is around£40,500, however there may be the opportunity to go slightly higher for the perfect candidate – there’s also regular and consistent increases in this with a strict salary banding in place.

The role is offered on a hybrid basis, 3 days in the office, and they’re very easy to get to via public transport.   On top of that there’s a very generous holiday allowance (much more than the standard 25 days), brilliant pension options and lots of softer benefits.
